The Rotunda @ Neiman Marcus (San Francisco)

During my short trip to San Francisco to visit my sister in the beginning of September, I (surprisingly) did not eat out much. In fact, I barely went into the city, preferring instead to explore the natural attractions in the Bay Area. I did, however, had lunch at the gorgeous restaurant in Neiman Marcus in Union Square - the Rotunda. The stained glass ceiling was absolutely spectacular.
Fresh lemonade ($4)
The amuse-bouche was a cup of concentrated chicken broth and a cheese puff on the side.
I read a lot of great things about the complimentary popover, and it did not disappoint. It was curiously served with strawberry butter. I loved the warm, buttery popover, and the strawberry butter actually worked really well with it, adding a subtle sweetness.
Ahi Tuna Poke ($17) - truffle seasoned ahi tuna, hawaiian seaweed, wasabi tobiko, taro chips
I wanted something light because the other item that we shared was very heavy. This was the perfect choice. I thought the tuna was slightly under-seasoned, but altogether it tasted good with the taro chips and seaweed salad.
Croque madame sandwich ($23) toasted brioche, baked applewood smoked ham, swiss cheese, fried egg, mornay sauce, frisée and arugula salad
Even though I normally a fatty, rich croque madame, this one was a little over the top for me. The smoked ham was a super thick cut, and for something so rich, I need the portion to be smaller!
I was pretty stuffed by the end of the meal thanks to the croque madame, but nonetheless the meal was enjoyable and the view was unbeatable.
