The Pawn (Hong Kong)

The Pawn in Wan Chai is aptly named for a pawn-shop turned restaurant serving up elevated British fare. The building that it's housed in is quite unique and the architectural influence from the British colonial days is quite evident here.
We quickly devoured the warm bread, served with two blocks of butter, sea salt, and black pepper. There's nothing I like more than warm, spongy bread to start the meal! Give me more!
Apparently, the Pawn is known for their fish and chips ($180 HKD) which, oddly enough, is actually not on the official menu. My friend Roy was in the know and ordered it anyway. I tried a bite and it was delicious- highly recommended!
Jeremy and I shared naturally reared Cedar River sirloin with slow-roasted onions ($445 HKD), which is meant to serve two. The accompaniments include duck fat-roasted potatoes, cauliflower and cheddar bake, and Yorkshire puddings. The steak was cooked to a beautiful medium and I absolutely loved that fatty crust! The sides were also delicious- I couldn't get enough of the cauliflower and cheese concoction, and the roasted potatoes were heavenly as well!
Dinner was very satisfying and I'm so glad we had a chance to dine here. Next time, I'd want to try out their afternoon tea, which is only available seasonally.
