丼吉日本吉列專門店餐廳 Tonkichi Tonkatsu Seafood

I love Tonkichi so much... I still dream about this place sometimes. This restaurant was on my "must go" list since the start of my trip. Luckily, I was able to enjoy a very nice new year's eve lunch here. I would go as far to say that this was my favourite meal in my entire Hong Kong trip! Once our orders were taken, we were given a mortar and pestle to grind sesame, which was quite fun!
Tonkatsu fillet and deep fried breaded oyster set (吉列豬柳+吉列蠔定食). The sight of this fills my heart with love, literally! Pieces of crispy, juicy tonkatsu fillet are perfectly complemented by the mayo-based dip and the delectable tonkatsu sauce! I usually don't like tonkatsu sauce, but the one here is extremely tasty! The pork meat is tender, flavourful and the batter is light and not overly greasy. It's absolute perfection! I declare that this is the best tonkatsu fillet I've had! And what else do I love more than deep fried pork? Deep fried oyster, of course! They give you a lot more pork than oyster, which is a shame because I really love deep fried oyster. Even though these were very tasty, I would say that it still doesn't top the deep fried oyster I had in Hokkaido two years ago. Oh, the memories that it brings back! On a side note, the salad was absolutely delicious and so very fresh! I loved that they refill your salad, because I can get full just from eating that! Not that I would want to, since everything else is so good.
We also had the Katsu-don loin (滑蛋豬扒饭), which is another of my favourite items. In comparison to pork fillet, the piece of pork loin is thinner and less fatty. I personally prefer the pork fillet more, but both were delightful! They even gave us free fruits for dessert, which is an added bonus that I appreciated. This place is rather pricey, but totally worth it in my opinion. I cannot wait to go back to indulge in more deep fried goodness!
