Phoenix Desserts

Yummm... today was the last day to use some free coupons for Phoenix Restaurant, so went there for desserts after dinner. This is the Panna Cotta, which was deliciously creamy. I love the mixture of the cream pudding with the mango puree. Not a fan of the whipped cream on top though.

and this is the free dessert! Ice cream bread, which is basically a thick piece of buttery toast topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, banana, strawberry and chocolate sauce. I think I'm going to try to replicate this at home! All in all, a perfect dessert night!

Sandwich & Burger Feast

California Sandwiches is often voted one of the best sandwich place in Toronto. They have multiple locations and I went to the one on Dufferin near Yorkdale. I really enjoyed this veal sandwich because it was unique and I hardly eat sandwiches like this. I hate dry sandwiches so I'm glad this one had abundant tomato sauce that kept the sandwich nice and moist. We added onion and cheese to the sandwich. I look forward to going back again in the near future.

@South St. Burger- same company as New York Fries. I love gourmet burgers and this one had a lot of special additional (complimentary) toppings! I almost added every item from the condiment list! This one had tomato, lettuce, guacamole, hot peppers, red onions, curry mayo, spicy ketchup and relish! Yum!

@ Panera Bread- Asiago Roast Beef on Asiago Cheese Demi bread : Oven-roasted beef, smoked cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions & creamy horseradish sauce. I really enjoy the bread from their own in-house bakery!

French Onion Soup in a Sourdough bread bowl! Soup and bread makes the perfect combo!

Turkey Artichoke Panini on Focaccia: Smoked turkey breast, spinach artichoke spread, Asiago-Parmesan cheese, tomatoes & caramelized onions! Haha I really can't get enough of grilled hot sandwiches! I think I'll be going back to Panera Bread a lot because they also have free wifi.

@ Kelseys- Stacked Pastrami Sandwich: Montreal-style pastrami piled high on thinly sliced sourdough bread, topped with two cheeses and lightly baked to a golden brown. Served with a butternut squash soup. This sandwich was actually quite good, probably due to the amount of cheese there is, but I don't know why Kelseys make their sandwiches look so artificial

Cracked Peppercorn Sirloin Burger: Lightly coated with cracked black peppercorns and topped with two crispy beer battered onion rings, peppercorn Ranch sauce, melted Swiss cheese, tomatoes and shredded lettuce. Again, why does this look so artificial?

@ Mirage Bistro- This was not my order so I can't remember what kind of sandwich it is. It looks pretty good though.

I like my tuna raw so it was perfect for me, I wish the beans at the bottom is a little softer though.

One of the beef was overcooked, otherwise it was alright.

Roasted Chicken Supreme
Northern Woods Mushrooms, Wilted Mustard Greens & Wheat Berries
The chicken was the best out of the 3 main dishes, the meat was not dry and the
sauce was good.

Canoe Nanaimo Bar
Minted White Chocolate Anglaise & Candied Ginger
This dessert looks heavy but the mint and the sauce sort of balance it out, and the candied 
ginger was a delight to eat

Rhubarb & Ontario Berry Tart

The Musket

I've been searching for a German restaurant in Toronto for awhile. So I finally found one in Etobicoke and I was super excited to go! My mom loves to eat roasted pork knuckle and I took here with that dish in mind.

One friendly diner offered to take a picture of my mommy and me =D We must've looked like tourists because I kept taking pictures!

Some ordinary bread to start off the meal. These tasted good when dipped in...

French Onion Soup: perfectly cheesy! I can't get enough of onions!

The star of the meal- BBQ Pork Hocks- I found out that this is called Schweinshaxe in German. I used to eat this in Macau and I've never had it in Toronto so I was super excited to find a place that serves it! And it was totally worth the trip going there! It was served with mustard, Sauerkraut (sour cabbage) and home fries. The Sauerkraut was nasty but the home fries were absolutely delectable!

My mommy really loves 德國鹹猪手

The thin and crispy skin was roasted to perfection. When you bite into it, the skin is infused with the pork fat and the meat almost melts in your mouth! I will definitely come back to try some of their other dishes!

The Designer Cookie

I absolutely fell in love with the Designer Cookie. They have such quirky cookies and cupcakes that have names like "Dolce and Banana", "Cocoa Chanel", and "Chewy Vuitton"! They also let you custom make your own cookie! For that day, I got oatmeal base dough with peanut butter chips and banana chips! Yummy!

Alice Fazooli's

I love Alice Fazooli's bread. I believe it is rosemary foccacia, served with two delicious dips. Don't really know what it is though.

Spuntini Antipasto Sampler: SALMONE- Grilled salmon with salsa verde aïol;  COZZE – Steamed mussels in white wine, garlic, olive oil and parsley; VERDURA ALLA GRIGLIA – Grilled zucchini, eggplant, red pepper, balsamic reductio.

CHICKEN PENNE ALLA VODKA: Fresh herbed chicken breast, tomato vodka cream sauce, fresh basil

CHICKEN WITH FRESH HERBS PANINI: Grilled chicken breast, fresh herbs, provolone, pancetta, fresh tomato, aïoli, served with a Caesar Salad.

I love grilled sandwiches!!!
